My personal identity is rooted in the correct pronunciation of my name: Joane. Since childhood, people have often altered my name and called me by various versions: Joana, Joan, Joanne, and so on. The most common mistake consistently involves the final letter “E”, as individuals frequently change or forget it.
But is there anything more uncomfortable than correcting someone on your name? This is why I wanted to create a personal identity that emphasizes my correct name, but at the same time making it memorable, and easy to identify. All the focus and attention is on the letter “E”.
A very simple logo, yet strong, bold, and direct. The typeface “Druk Wide Medium” from Commercial Type foundry helps in transmitting a clear message. All the attention is concentrated on the “E” in order to create a memorable logo, or better yet, a memorable “E”.
Starting from the logo, there are some visual elements that help the brand recognition and consistency. For instance, the stretched “E” serves as a distinctive feature applicable across various surfaces, not limited to just the name; the navigation bar, created from the continuity of the three horizontal lines; and finally, the strikethrough, which will be useful to cross out the incorrect names.
The color red holds dual significance. Firstly, it serves as an alert, capturing attention and signaling a need for heightened awareness. Secondly, red also symbolizes correction.
